Background image taken from here: [link]

My steampunk airship model photoshopped onto a more appropriate background .

Model made from bits of everything.

it is a magnificent model, i must say! and the background is an epic win! what materials did you use to create the model?

Bits of everything that I found, really.

The main engine section is the nozzle from a dustbuster, cut down to make it a wee bit slimmer, and the other parts are various baskets and bowls that fitted the bill.

This is one of the advantages of hoarding everything you find - it all comes in use someday.

The wood is from a broken blind, and the balloon is made from wire and tissue paper soaked in a PVA & water mix, with some instant coffee granules added to give it the dirty brown colour. The glue makes the tissue paper slightly translucent, which is a nice effect.

And all the cogs and bits are from computers, printers, kitbashed models...

Like I said, bits of everything!

I'm surprised you haven't recieved more comments for this; it's magnificent! It captures the airship equivalent of sailing on the bow of a traditional ship - the uncharted skies your freedom and domain. Fantastic work my friend :D

The funny thing about life, is that it's so terribly important to preserve until it becomes inconvienient. Then it holds the same worth calculus does to a masturbating monkey.

This shot is even better; has that epic, "flying into adventure" feel. The model is really excellent; that must have taken a lot of skill to build.
