Description
The process starts out with a lifecast of my head.
Armature wire is stapled onto the plaster cast, and wrapped in plaster bandage, which is then coated with shellac to prevent the plaster from wicking the moisture out of the wet clay.
(The wires poking out of the eyes are to help me locate the centre of each eye when it is covered in clay.)
The sculpt is roughed out at first, before being refined into a smoother, more defined shape.
Eye holes are cut out at this stage to give a key for cutting out the eye holes once the resin cast is made.
Once the sculpt is finished, it is walled up all around the back of the sculpt, ready for moulding.
