Commission work: The best way to contact me is via email: cara.packwood(at)gmail.com

I'm constantly developing my prop modelling skills, and learning new ways to do things, and it's great to be able to transfer this knowledge into commission work.

I'm open to most prop modelling and armour making work.

Current projects: Currently working on some LARP monsters - not going to say any more about that until they're finished and unleashed.
I am also putting together some kit for Empire LRP.

Finished!

Well, I have finished all the work that is required for my degree. It's out of my hands now, and it's a huge relief!

Now I can start to focus on more armour projects.

I have my LARP armour project to do now, along with finishing up my Rathalos armour, and finishing my Coeurl puppet.

Yay!

Azure Rathalos armour is nearing completion.
All of the moulds have now been made, which means there is no more sculpting to do.

What's left to do now involves one piece of casting, then painting, and constructing. I have a feeling there will be a fair amount of sewing left to do to make the belts and other fabric parts, along with a significant amount of embroidery.

However, now I don't have any more sculpting and moulding left to do, this means I won't be making as much of a mess!

In other news, I'm considering making a few more steampunky/dieselpunky airships to put up for sale, and also maybe a few custom goggles. So, if anyone is interested in those, watch this space.

Things to do.

So, I'm beginning to play through the 'Grandia' series of games.

Playing Grandia II again at the moment. I adore that game. I adore its storyline. I adore the characters. I rate it as my favourite game ever. Or at least a tie with Skies of Arcadia. (Because I like the characters in Arcadia better, but I prefer the storyline in Grandia II)

Anyway, video games are great for inspiration.

In other news:
costume wise, I'm wondering whether I will be able to get my Azure Rathalos armour completed in time for May London Expo.
I probably could. I just need to sit down and do some sculpting. And taking plaster moulds.

(Note to self, don't rush the plaster moulds.)

I think I will take a little time aside to make some Monster Hunter props as well - Ravager Blade to start with.
I finally feel like I can apply what I learned from working on John Carter of Mars.

Maybe I'll make a few other props while I have access to the workshop.

I need to think about what to do, project wise, for my third year at uni...

Cosplay Tag X3

Rules:
1. Post the rules
2. Answer each question truthfully
3. Tag 3-5 people at the end

+++

1. What was your first cosplay? (Think hard on this)
Hm... From what I remember, Lucifer from Angel Sanctuary, for a halloween costume. Basically poorly put together from clothes I already had... with eyeliner. I have photos of it. They're not pretty.
After that, the first cosplay I wore to a convention was Tooru from Princess Princess... but that was just a bought lolita dress... so I don't count that either XD
So, the first cosplay I actually made myself and wore to a convention would have been Etna from Disgaea. My ass doesn't fit into that skirt anymore.

2. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
I really don't know. I've always loved making costumes, and wearing costumes... I guess I properly got into it when I first went to the London Expo though, thanks to Becca <3
Probably would have never gone down the path I'm on now if I hadn't cosplayed at the London Expo.

3. What is your favorite cosplay?
So far? Would have to be Mia from .hack. I spent months making that, and it's basically been the biggest influence on me to push me down the career path I'm on. If it hadn't been for that costume, I would probably be doing costume construction at uni, rather than character creation.

4. Which is your least favourite?
I... don't know. I'm very much a perfectionist when it comes to costumes, so unless I'm completely satisfied with a costume, I probably won't wear it. I'd probably say Tooru from Princess Princess is my least favourite, pretty much because I didn't make it, and it doesn't really even match the character's costume at all.

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Sometimes. It makes me feel nice.

6. How many have you done?
Depends whether you count the ones I don't consider good enough XD
Lucifer, Tooru, Etna, Miles Edgeworth, Mia, Lacus Clyne, Rei Ayanami (although I haven't gotten around to wearing that one yet), Generic Steampunk Alchemist. 5 if you count the ones I like and have worn, 8 if you count all the others.

7. What are the top 5 on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
Oh... let me get out the list.
Tio from Grandia II
Endrance from .hack//G.U.
Falco Lombardi from Starfox
Fran from FFXII
Vyse from Skies of Arcadia

Oh... there are more than 5 I want to do, and I'm not even sure if these ones are at the top of the list XD
I tend to pick which cosplay to do depending on how much time I have to make it, and whether anyone else is doing something similar to group up with.

8. What female cosplay do you want to do most?
Uuh... Tio, I guess.

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
Hm. I don't know. Lots of them. At the moment, the next in line is Falco, although I have all the materials I need to make Vyse. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

10. What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes?
I like making them, but the stress that happens when I always leave it til the last minute is not cool.
But, at least if I make them, I can enter competitions.
Plus, I never pick a costume that would be beyond my skill level, even if it is a challenge sometimes.

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Winning second place at Expo for my Mia cosplay alongside Scott's Elk cosplay? I'd really like to cosplay that pair again sometime =)

12. Your dream cosplay?
... One of these days, I am going to make a Big Daddy from Bioshock. Or a Big Sister from Bioshock 2.

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what? (Things like they have a certain personality, or hair colour)
I don't think so.

14. Your most recent cosplay?
Lacus Clyne is my most recent character cosplay.
Steampunk is my most recent, uuh... random generic cosplay.

15. What do you prefer? Cosplaying in a group or on your own?
I don't really know. I like cosplaying on my own, but groups make me feel involved and happy.
